Inlays and onlays are indirect restorations used to repair rear teeth with mild to moderate decay or damage. They are a conservative alternative to full crowns, preserving more of your natural tooth structure.

Inlays vs Onlays

Inlays fit within the cusps (bumps) of the tooth. They are used when the damage or decay does not affect the tooth cusps.

Onlays extend over one or more cusps of the tooth. They are sometimes called "partial crowns" as they cover more of the tooth surface.
